Maldon & The Blue Boar Hotel

Since the 14th Century , this picturesque coaching inn, just off the high street in the historic town of Maldon, has provided a welcome rest for travellers, business people and craftsmen plying their trade throughout East Anglia. The towns location at the mouth of the Chelmer and Blackwater Rivers ensured its growing importance as a trading centre- especially at the time when barges used to bring wool to the area. One can imagine bargees and travellers alike gathering around the inn’s log fires in winter admist a wealth of exposed beams which still exist today. Defying architectural change, the building has retained its character over the years
